“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way through or around it. [……] If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.”
When it comes to social and group dynamics, this quote brings a new meaning to ‘go with the flow’. The flow of a company is important. The flow of the smaller groups within the company is important. The flow of the individuals within the smaller groups is important. The flow of a project is important. None more than the other, but all of them operating equally and cohesively together. So much so, that none should individually be sacrificed and all should be fiercely protected.
If individuals flow well together, the group flows well. If groups flow well together, the projects flow well. If individuals, groups and projects are flowing well, there so goes the company. No individuals is more important than the company and no company is more important than its individuals. Both, all and everything in between must flow together in the same direction towards the same destination….like water.
